Immigration: Borders and People Policies

Immigration policies must balance compassion with security. As a 2026 gubernatorial candidate, I will prioritize Wyoming families’ safety, advocate for secure borders, and ensure that immigration policies promote economic stability.

I love this video on the topic of immigration. Obviously these numbers have changed since this video was made 14 years ago, but the principles remain the same:

Faith: The Foundation

The Bible teaches us to treat foreigners with love and compassion. “The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself” (Leviticus 19:34). There are other countless verses that talk about the stranger or foreigners among us. As such, we are called to balance compassion with justice, ensuring policies are fair and uphold the rule of law, all while considering the impact it has on our citizens and communities, whom often are already underserved in many ways. Americans are the most generous people in the world; may we not forget that. We cannot continue that good if our country is overrun by people who do not love it or are here or brought here for the wrong reasons.

Family: The Reason

Families are being torn apart in this nation from illegal immigrant crime; the actual cost to our families, culture, and tax payers is astronomical on so many levels. Strong immigration policies should prioritize uniting and protecting the families and communities we have. They must promote opportunities that strengthen the nuclear family while ensuring safety for Wyoming’s communities. The actual cost financially exceeds $150 billion a year on the federal level in 2023 alone, not counting the tens of billions in local and state level burden.

Freedom: The Result

Compassionate yet secure immigration policies contribute to freedom not only for American Citizens but the people of the world as well, by fostering diverse communities where individuals can thrive while respecting our laws and values. We all know the current system is broken; this isn’t big news. The country is very divided on this issue. Everyone I know around the world in many, many countries…. All want to come here. Coming here legally is a mere act of God. We must strike a balance between loving our fellow man and destroying the fabric of our country.

Future: The Consequence

Poorly managed immigration policies can lead to social and economic instability, which we are currently experiencing.

Thoughtful, balanced policies which we hope to see from the Trump Administration 2.0 will ensure a future where everyone can succeed and contribute positively to society.

Immigration: Welcoming Contributors and Integrators

Immigration is not just about borders; it’s about building a society enriched by the skills, talents, and drive of those who seek to make the United States their home. While addressing the complexities of the immigration system, it is crucial to recognize and embrace individuals who come to this country with the intention of contributing positively to our communities and economy.

Those who come to the U.S. with a desire to work hard, integrate into society, and contribute to its economic growth are invaluable assets to our nation. Immigrants often bring:

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Immigrants have a long history of creating wealth and driving innovation. From starting small businesses to founding major companies, their entrepreneurial efforts generate jobs and stimulate economic growth.

  • Skilled Labor: Many immigrants possess specialized skills that fill critical gaps in the workforce, supporting industries like technology, healthcare, construction, and agriculture.

Cultural Diversity: By sharing their unique perspectives, traditions, and creativity, immigrants enrich our culture and foster innovation.

It’s equally important to create systems that support immigrants in successfully integrating into American life. Policies should:

  • Promote Language and Cultural Education: Providing resources for language acquisition and cultural orientation helps immigrants adapt more quickly and contribute effectively.

  • Streamline Legal Pathways: A clear and efficient legal immigration process ensures that those with the skills and motivation to contribute can do so without unnecessary hurdles.

Encourage Civic Engagement: Supporting pathways to citizenship and encouraging community involvement helps immigrants become active participants in society.

While welcoming contributors, it’s vital to balance this with secure borders and a fair, lawful immigration system. By doing so, we honor the rule of law while celebrating the opportunities and innovation that immigrants bring to the nation.

Immigrants who seek to create wealth, provide jobs, and integrate into society not only benefit themselves but also strengthen the social and economic fabric of the United States. Embracing their contributions ensures that America remains a land of opportunity while upholding its core values of freedom, justice, and community.
