Taxes: Revenue systems and fiscal policies

Taxes are necessary to sustain societal functions, but in Wyoming, we need fair and efficient tax reform. As a 2026 candidate for Wyoming Governor, I am committed to tax reform that prioritizes Wyoming families and businesses. My campaign focuses on reducing tax burdens while ensuring fair and efficient use of resources.

Faith: The Foundation

The Bible teaches the importance of fair and just governance. Taxes are necessary to sustain societal functions; after all we love having roads and police right? But they should never be a burden that oppresses the people (like they are now). As Christ said, “Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” (Mark 12:17). In Matthew 17:27 Jesus has his disciples fish to pay the tax, giving yet another example of the need to not offend, and participate in paying taxes. My faith calls me to ensure taxes are used wisely and efficiently.

Family: The Reason

High taxes can place undue strain on families and businesses, limiting their ability to thrive. Policies around taxation should prioritize supporting families and businesses by allowing them to keep more of their earnings to provide for their loved ones, educate their children, and save for the future. Wyoming legislators on the local or state level have no right to present any other tax ideas until they are fully accountable and running the way they should be, eliminating ALL wasteful spending.

Freedom: The Result

By promoting a fair and equitable tax system, families and businesses experience financial freedom and independence. Reducing tax burdens while ensuring effective government services empowers individuals, families, and businesses to pursue their goals without unnecessary interference. Imagine living in a place where you die, and your heirs are required to pay a massive portion of that inheritance in taxes or go bankrupt in taxes because you died. Imagine living in a place where you take a huge risk with your life’s savings, and you score big, but the government feels entitled to half of your gain. Welcome to America; this is robbery, this must stop.

Future: The Consequence

Every tax policy must be viewed through its long-term impact on Wyoming’s economy and future generations. Excessive taxation stifles growth, while irresponsible cuts can cripple infrastructure. Balanced policies will create a sustainable future for families, businesses, and communities. We all know the current tax system is utterly broken locally, statewide, and nationally. We all know many politicians use “revenue” as an excuse to pursue pet projects with their donors and friends; they use Teachers and Firefighters as pawns for more revenue.
